In 1997 Furnace Town and The Nature Conservancy realized that both groups needed a proper Visitor Center. We pooled resources and, with the help of a state bond bill, completed the current center in 1999. It houses introductory exhibits, a Gathering Room for small group meetings and events, The Museum Store and offices for Furnace Town staff and The Nature Conservancy’s Nassawango Land Manager.
