19th Century Christmas at Furnace Town
|
Furnace Town will be decorated with nature’s offerings to welcome visitors on December 6 and 7, between Noon and 4:00 pm. In addition to artisans and the nature trail, Furnace Town’s annual Christmas Mart will be set up in the Gathering Room. This provides a wider selection of giftware made by those who consign items through The Museum Store. The site will reopen at 6:30 on Saturday December 6 for the 7:00 pm 19th Century Christmas Service in The Old Nazareth Church. The gentle lighting, heat from a wood stove, and singing of the old familiar Christmas hymns make this an especially memorable tradition for many. Rev. Sherwood McGrath with Whatcoat Methodist Church in Snow Hill will be taking the service; an offering is used for the Snow Hill Ministerial Association’s relief programs. Furnace Town and Nature Conservancy members receive free admission for all Christmas events. Others pay daily site admission for the Noon - 4 times. The Christmas Service is free. |
